Music Director

Connie Marie Jahrmarkt, M. Mus. Ed. UWSP, Stevens Point, WI; B. Mus. Ed. Heidelberg College, Tiffin, Oh.

Connie has served the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Phoenix for eleven years. Before coming to Phoenix she served as Music Director of Milford 1st United Methodist Church, a congregation of 1500 active members and the first UM settlement in the Northwest Territory. Before that position she serviced as music director in the Disciples of Christ-Christian Church for twelve years. She is currently enrolled in the first class for Certification as a Unitarian Universalist Musician. Connie has taught violin and played in semi-professional orchestras for over 30 years. She currently holds the concertmistress chair in the Fine Arts Strings, an ensemble of Musica Nova. She co-founded her own band, Europa, which performs the music of the peoples of Eastern Europe. She has been directing and playing violin in bands for over 19 years: Country/Western, German, East-European and  Gypsy. She has been teaching violin privately and in public schools and universities for over 30 years: U of Cincinnati Prep. Department, Wittenberg University, Cincinnati Public Schools, Northwestern Public School, Place Music Academy. Her successful grant writing includes grants from the Ohio Arts Council for members of Heartland East European Dance Troupe to attend Balkan Music Workshops for multiple years. She has served on the Board of the Ohio Suzuki Association and currently is the director of the Arizuki Stars, touring group of the Arizona Suzuki Association.
