Book discussion group

If you are looking for a book club to join, the Adult RE Committee facilitates a regular book discussion group that meets on Sunday mornings from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. in Room B.

The Book Discussion Group has been meeting since
February, 2002. To date, we have focused on nonfiction that spans a
range of topics: religion and philosophy, history, politics, economics,
and psychology. We take several weeks to go through each book,
depending on its length and difficulty. Books are chosen by consensus.
Newcomers are always welcome. To find out more about the current book, e-mail books@phoenixuu.org.

Books that we have discussed over the past few years include:

  • Religion and Doubt - Richard Creel
  • Religion Explained - Pascal Boyer
  • The Meaning of It All - Richard Feynman
  • Guns, Germs, and Steel - Jared Diamond
  • The Botany of Desire - Michael Pollan
  • The Moral Animal - Richard Wright
  • The Demon-Haunted World - Carl Sagan
