Although “The Father” is a powerful symbol in some theologies, where does Unitarian Universalism make space for the spiritual and practical contributions of fathers? This class will explore the evolving roles played by fathers, father figures, and those who perform the functions traditionally performed by fathers, including moms. We will learn about cultural variations in fathering, how father-offspring relationships change over the lifespan, and reflect on the roles fathers played in the formation of our spiritual commitments. This course is open to all, including fathers, grandfathers, family members, and anyone who has an interest in fatherhood.
