How do we remain hopeful in these unsettling times? Drawing on the idea of “active hope,” this workshop helps us develop a toolkit for a more hopeful future.

Hope is a feeling that things will be ok, but also a science and a relational art. To foster hope, we can take specific steps that leave us feeling more purposeful, connected, and prepared to create a future that reflects our values. Step 1 is storytelling, finding and telling meaningful stories that inspire us. Step 2 is implementing personal practices that foster hope, such as liberating our imagination and turning wishes into plans. Step 3 is building hope into community life, embedding the experience of hope into our UUCP community. What forms of participation inspire us and what kinds leave us feeling unhopeful?
