The Outdoor Group is a recreational and social group that gathers to share outdoor experiences, primarily hiking. We generally hike on the second and fourth Saturday mornings during the cool months. Our goals are to share strength in fellowship as well as encourage a love of the outdoors and our environment. For more information or to be added to our mailing list, please email us at outdoorgroup@phoenixuu.org.

  • Join Our Hike at Fountain Hills Adero Trailhead

The next hike on March 25 will be in the Fountain Hills Preserve and led by Geriann Engle.

The first part of the route is along the Promenade Trail. It’s a higher elevation old road that’s an easy walk, with nice eastward views. It’s about 1-1/2 miles total out & back. The Sonoran Loop starts at the end of this trail and is about 4 miles round trip with a 700 ft elevation change. There are two connector trails to shorten the hike, if desired.

This shows up on “All Trails” as the ‘Western Loop, Sonoran and Promenade Loop. Skip the ‘Western Loop’ stair-master and you’ve got this hike.

Adero Trailhead – Meet at 8:30am

From Scottsdale, go east on Shea Blvd past the turn-off for Eagle Mountain Golf Club. Then, turn north on Palisades Blvd at the next stoplight. Turn left or west onto Eagle Ridge Drive at the four-way stop signs. Wind your way past the ridgetop resort, through a huge new residential construction project to the trail head at the end of the road. Meet at the picnic area & bathrooms. See you there!!
