We are passionate about anti-racism, anti-oppression, equality, and justice work. Social justice is not just a component of our ministry; it is embedded into every part of us. We strive for a multicultural anti-oppression presence in every aspect of what we do, including worship, outreach, and even committee work.

Crucial Petitions / Eviction Moratorium / Masks in Businesses

  • You may be getting messages from the Maricopa County Recorder saying that your ballot for November is being prepared. That election will be focused on local candidates for school boards, etc. The most urgent action you can take NOW is to sign the many petitions that are in process. If enough signatures are obtained by mid-September, some of the most egregious bills concerning education and voting rights passed by the AZ Legislature will not go into effect until voted on in the 2022 general election. Here is how and where to sign petitions.
  • The moratorium on evictions has been crucial for many. If you want more information about landlord and tenant responsibilities, and how to get rental assistance, see this.
  • Despite a lack of a state mandate, some restaurants and other businesses are requiring proof of vaccination. If you are in favor of this policy, the LD23 Newsletter suggests ways to support these businesses.
