Japan is a fascinating country of economic and business successes, rich culture, technical competency, and spatial challenges. It has an area slightly bigger than Germany and smaller than California. Japan is the world’s tenth largest country by population, with 127.3 million people. We started with a view of Mt. Fuji. At Nara we visited the largest wooden building in the world; saw impressive Buddhist Temples & Shinto Shrines along with the friendly free roaming deer. We rode the bullet train to Hiroshima & marveled at the A-Bomb museum. We spent a week on our own discovering Tokyo with its population of 14 million and many historic districts. We toured the ancient capital of Kyoto with its beautiful gardens. We spent the day touring Himeji City with its 6-story White Castle & the famous Engyoji Temple featured in the movie, “The Last Samurai”.
