Intern minister Brigitta Vieyra standing on rocks near the water

Welcome to our Ministerial Intern, Brigitta Vieyra! She will be starting her journey to grow into the Unitarian Universalist Ministry on March 6th, 2023!

During Rev. Christine’s Installation in September, the Congregation was charged to become a teaching congregation, one that creates space and resources for new UU Ministers to grow and learn. UUCP took that charge to heart and the process has moved very quickly.

Once Rev. Christine became eligible to have an intern in November, the wheels turned quickly. Thanks to the generosity of members who stepped up to provide additional funding, housing and leadership for an Internship Committee, we published the position in December, interviewed in January and just offered the position last week.

We are thrilled that Brigitta can move to Phoenix to start with us very soon. She will be part-time March-June while she finishes her full-time school work at Iliff School of Theology and part-time internship with Standing Up For Racial Justice (SURJ). She will be full-time from June 2023 through mid-February, 2024.

Would you like to help support the Ministerial Intern?
We are grateful for an anonymous member who is underwriting the $30,000 of additional money for the Ministerial Intern. We are hoping that others will step up and contribute so that costs can be shared among many. Would you be willing to contribute some money towards their (meager, but meaningful) salary? Please reach out to christinedance@phoenixuu.org if you can contribute.

We are so excited to bring Brigitta into this community and create a rich and loving space for her ministerial formation and growth. You can read more about Brigitta on our Ministry and staff page.
