Bring your pets, bring a picture or bring your open hearts. We will be worshiping outside for this special service where we honor our pets, the special roles they have in our lives and how they make us better humans. While we will have some chairs setup, we encourage you to bring your own chairs. Also, as this is an outdoor event, don’t forget to bring water and a sunhat. No umbrellas please.

Support a Refugee Family for an Incredibly Rewarding Experience!

Help a refugee family when they arrive in the US: culture, language, shopping, ID cards, education, etc. etc. etc. This is a three-month commitment for a team of 5: each person on the team visits once every other week. UUCP has supported two families this past year (from Afghanistan and Turkey), and we are now recruiting for a summer team and a winter team. It is an incredibly rewarding volunteering experience—because you know that what you are doing will bear fruit and give wings. If you are interested, please contact Gill Hamilton at refugee@phoenixuu.org. Sunday April 28^th we will have a refugee service: please come to the back of the church (children’s area) after the service to sign up or ask questions.

The UUCP Nominating Committee is pleased to provide you with the names, bios and photos of the wonderful members who have agreed to take positions on the Board of Trustees, UU Foundation Board, and Nominating Committee for 2024-2025. You can read more about them in the Slate of Candidates for Leadership Positions at UUCP 2024-2025. The election will take place at our congregational meeting on Sunday, June 9th, 2024.

NOTE: Additional nominations may be made by petition of any ten Members, provided the Petition is accompanied by a signed statement expressing the nominee’s willingness to serve if elected. Such a petition must be filed with the Chair of the Nominating Committee (nominating@phoenixuu.org) by May 15th for inclusion in the list of nominees.

Opportunity to Represent UUCP at the UUA 2024 General Assembly

All UUCP Members, including youth, are invited to participate in the 2024 UUA General Assembly as a Delegate.

General Assembly (GA) is the annual meeting of our Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), which brings together 5,000 people from the 1,000+ UU congregations worldwide. It is fully virtual in 2024, and will run from Thursday, June 20th to Sunday, June 23rd.

The full program includes workshops, lectures, services, a parade, and musical performances (our own Benjie Messer served as music director for the 2020 GA). There are also youth programs.

GA is where UUs affirm and commit to putting values into action. In 2024, we will vote on a historic change in line with our own mission—to be a spiritual community for our time. Delegates will vote on adoption of the set of new UU Values that Rev. Christine has been speaking to from the pulpit.

Eligibility: You must be a member of UUCP to be a Voting Delegate. Non-members are welcome to attend, but would not hold voting rights.

Registration options: Full online registration is $315 until May 15, and $400 after May 15. Children up to 9^th grade are free with a registered adult.

Or, you can join as a Business Only Delegate for a donation of as little as $0.

Next steps: To be a Delegate, you must sign up with both UUCP and the UUA.
