There was exceptionally nice weather on Saturday morning October 8th. It was partly overcast with temperatures starting out in the low 70’s!! We had three hikers on the Spur Cross loop and two hikers on the Metate loop. You can’t beat this area for awesome hiking. After a couple hours, we re-convened in the shade at the patio area next to the parking lot. It was nice just to hang out, chat and enjoy the views.

The next hike will be on October 22nd in the central McDowell Sonoran Preserve. We’ll meet at the Tom’s Thumb trailhead. Those wanting a good workout can join Barbara to hike up the Tom’s Thumb trail. It’s about a 4 mile out & back, with an elevation change of 1235 ft.

Others wanting a more benign and scenic hike can join Geri to hike the Marcus Landslide trail. It’s about a 3.8 mile out & back, with an elevation change of 500 ft.
