Holbert Trail at South Mountain – Saturday, December 24
Join Barbara for a 4.5-mile out and back moderate hike in the South Mountain Preserve on the Holbert to Dobbins Lookout Trail. There is only 997 feet elevation gain.
Location: South Mountain Preserve is off West Baseline Road on Central Avenue. Drive to the main entrance to South Mountain and make a left past the visitor’s center. Go to the end of the road to the parking lot. The trail head will be towards the end of the parking lot on the left side as you face towards the exit. We’ll meet at 8:45am at the trailhead to start hiking around 9:00am. There are bathroom facilities available. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.

Phoenix Sonoran Desert Preserve – Saturday, December 31
This hike is for anyone who can walk for a couple of hours at a moderately quick, steady pace without sitting down. Sidewinder does have some elevation gain with some rocky, uneven footing. Please wear appropriate hiking footwear.
Location: From the 101 and Cave Creek Road, go north on Cave Creek Road to the first left after Jomax, which is E. Sonoran Desert Drive. Turn left (west) and go 4.1 miles to the entrance to the Preserve. Turn right and go .4 miles to the parking lot. Meet at 9:00am to start hiking at 9:15am.

New Year’s Eve Potluck – Saturday, December 31
Whether or not you have joined the hike, please join us at Bonnie White & Ed Cernek’s house around noon. Bring a dish to share and something to drink. A large pot of soup and table service will be provided. We will be on the patio, so dress appropriately for the day’s weather.
You do not have to hike to attend the potluck. You do not have to attend the potluck if you hike. We would love for you to attend both because it is the most fun that way! View the flyer for directions and contact information.
