The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Phoenix strives to be a spiritual community for our time, focused on diverse theological perspectives, radical inclusion, and knowing that issues of justice and equity shape everything we do.

With a special awareness for those who have been historically marginalized, we welcome all, of every race, class, ethnicity, immigration status, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious background, mental and physical ability and disability. We welcome your whole self, your family into our worship as we build a community of caring, courage, and hope.

We are passionate about anti-racism, anti-oppression, equality, and justice work. Social justice is not just a component of our ministry; it is embedded into every part of us. We strive for a multicultural anti-oppression presence in every aspect of what we do, including worship, outreach, and even committee work.

Giving Thanks for Good Trouble

UU the Vote and UUCP logos on gold background; dark blue text: "We're Almost There!" "GOOD Trouble" "98.22%"

As we count our blessings for this past year, at the top of my list, is the many ways UU’s at UUCP and across the country gave of our time and energy to make sure that the voices of marginalized voters were heard, and that those who were determined to undermine our Democratic system were defeated at the ballot box. Here’s the latest updates on our progress to Good Trouble status:

As of 11/22/2022, UUCP has surpassed 3 of 4 criteria needed to qualify for the UUA Good Trouble Congregation status. Last week, we reached out to our Good Trouble makers, to move us across the finish line. And you all answered the call! We are now at 98.22% for Letters and Postcards. I have great confidence that once all the reporting is in, we will surpass our goal.

But, if you have the capacity to do a few more letters between now and Nov. 29th, please do go to Vote Forward-GA Runoff. If your poor aching hands just can’t take another 20 letters, there are texting opportunities with GA Interfaith Power and Light, to reach out to low propensity Climate Justice voters. If you’ve never done it, I promise, it’s fun and easy, and all you need is a laptop or PC. Your personal cell phone and information will not be disclosed. There are also phone banking and texting opportunities with Unitarian Universalist Social Justice.

Happy Thanksgiving. Happy Indigenous People’s Day. We hope you will enjoy some time with friends and family, or some quiet time to reflect on what is good in the world around us.
