Location: Loop hike on the Lost Dog Walsh Trail to the Old Jeep Trail returning on the Ringtail Trail to the trailhead. The McDowell Sonoran Trailhead is located on 124th Street off of Shea Blvd in Scottsdale. This is a very popular trailhead with a large parking lot. We will meet by the restrooms.
Meeting time: Meet at the trailhead at 8:30am to start hiking at 8:45am. We will start on the Lost Dog Walsh with gradual ascends. We will cross a couple of washes and again ascend to a low ridge that offers amazing views of the valley. The hike is approximately 4.5 miles with 500 feet elevation gain.
Don’t forget to bring water, wear sunscreen and a hat. Due to rocky trail, wearing hiking boots is preferable. Bring trekking poles if you use them. After the hike, which should take 2.5 – 3 hours there are multiple options for coffee, etc. TBD.
