We are passionate about anti-racism, anti-oppression, equality, and justice work. Social justice is not just a component of our ministry; it is embedded into every part of us. We strive for a multicultural anti-oppression presence in every aspect of what we do, including worship, outreach, and even committee work.

No Letter Writing Party – You Can Still #UUtheVote!

UU the Vote logo, UUCP phoenix logo, "Make Good Trouble with UUCP!" on a gold background

Unfortunately, we will not be able to hold an October Letter Writing Party. But there are so many other ways to UU the Vote, whether you prefer to write letters, text, phone bank, or canvass!

Volunteer for your favorite candidate(s): Early ballots went out this week and your local candidates can use all the help they can get between now and Election Day. This years’ candidates for Secretary of State, Attorney General, and Governor will be particularly consequential.

If you’ve already obtained letters and postcards, some are being mailed now, and the remainder between now and October 29. We still have postcards and letters available at the Civic Engagement table. We have stamps available for anyone who wants to be involved, but we need help with the cost of postage. Or you can pull your own letters from the Vote Forward website at https://votefwd.org/uu.

Now is the time to phone bank: I know it can be scary and difficult but when we come together as a beloved community, the work gets easier, the load gets lighter and the impact becomes greater. Having a conversation with voters can increase turnout by about 3%. The state of Georgia was decided in 2020 by a margin of 11,000 votes. That is .23% of 1% of the total votes cast. Every vote counts. Every call matters. Sign up for one or more events with UU the Vote

Center for Common Ground: The Center for Common Ground is a non-partisan voting rights organization led by people of color. Their mission is to educate, and empower under represented Black voters to fully participate in Democracy. Find opportunities for phone banking, texting, and postcarding action on the Center for Common Ground website.

Phone Banking, Texting, Canvassing with Climate Justice Voter: UU the Vote has partnered with the Environmental Voter Project. The Environmental Voter Project is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization focused on accurately identifying non-voting environmentalists and efficiently converting them into a critical mass of consistent voters. Learn more about this organization and sign up for Climate Justice Voter actions.

In case you missed it, here is our October Good Trouble Newsletter.

Don’t forget to report all Electoral activities to goodtrouble@phoenixuu.org.
