Does anyone remember my first sermon as your Called Minister? It was about “Humaning” together. I don’t think anyone could have fast-forwarded to almost four years later when our cameras went out and I was humming and providing percussion on the Blue Danube Waltz to the whole congregation to keep the great energy flowing. That was truly a humaning moment.

Our Stewardship campaign is off to a FANTASTIC start! Thank you to everyone who has pledged early and has affirmed that they want to be counted. The momentum in the congregation is palpable. Each week we are having new people find us and feel the energy. We have folks stepping up and offering more ways to get involved. And we just had 11 new Our Whole Lives (OWL) Facilitators certified last weekend!

Our definition of “humaning” continues to evolve. We’ve explored letting go of perfectionism as an antidote to White Supremacy Culture. We are learning that we don’t have to DO something all the time; sometimes BEING is enough. We are learning that to care for each other, we don’t need a script; we just need to risk reaching out and asking how someone is. We are learning that we can find moments of great joy and humanity when things don’t work quite right. And we get the spiritual exercise of practicing grace, compassion and forgiveness on some meaningful levels.

I love humaning with you, and I can’t wait to explore all the ways we will do more of it together.
